Odd Juxtaposition

I’m working at home today. iTunes is up in the background playing music on random. First comes up “Florence’s Greeting” from “The 5th Dimension Live”, which says “Welcome to our show, and we’d like to start it with a medley of our greatest hits. Here’s our first song…” The next track up is “Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words)” from the Tom Jones album “This is Tom Jones”, a swinging Las-Vegas big band version of the classic song. Immediately after that comes a clip from “The Wizard of Oz”, where Dorothy says to the Scarecrow, where Dorothy says, “Wonderful! Why if our scarecrow back in Kansas could do that, the crows would be scared to pieces…”

I just got this image of the Scarecrow on the Yellow Brick Road, singing to Count Basie or an equivalent band hiding in the cornfield (just like in Blazing Saddles) and swinging “Fly me to the moon / Let me sing among the stars / Let me see what spring is like / On Jupiter and Mars / In other words, hold my hand / In other words, baby kiss me / Fill my heart with song/ Let me sing for ever more / You are all I long for/ All I worship and adore/ In other words, please be true / In other words, I love you”, and the crows flying away, in total confusion.
