Ikea Update

An update on my earlier entry. We just finished eating dinner after our adventure with ellipticcurve at Ikea. Suffice it to say that we learned that Ikea (at least the Ikea in Burbank, California) does not believe in customer service. If an item was not self-service (i.e., most of their larger items), the wait to pick up the item was 4-5 HOURS. Yup. That’s right. We left Ikea at 5:30 PM, returned at 8:15 PM… and it item still wasn’t ready for pickup. It took Ellipticcurve having to go to the manger’s manager to get the item, and we walked out of there at 9:00 PM. This, of course, didn’t help the other 150 people that were still having around the waiting room. The manager2‘s response was essentially: wait, or come back tomorrow. No apologies, no offers of free shipping… nothing to actually show that the customer was the important party in the transaction. Suffice it to say that we won’t be going back to Ikea.

We did have a delightful dinner from Kabob House in Glendale. Kababs, rice, and baklava do a wonderful job of making one feel better.
