(meme) Five Guilty Pleasures

A lunchtime meme, artfully prepared by talonvaki. The meme? The first player of this “game” starts with the top “5 Guilty Pleasures” and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about their 5 Guilty Pleasures as well as state this rule. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.

What is a guilty pleasure? I guess it is something you don’t want people to know you like. Of course, we do this by posting it on LiveJournal. Ummmm… So, what are mine:

  • Survivor. I’ve been hooked since the first season. My daughter and I sit and watch it together. I find the plotting to be quite interesting (ala Diplomacy), and it has very skilled editing.
  • Certain silly movies, such as Kentucky Fried Movie, The Great Race, Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Hallelujah Trail, or The Frisco Kid. Yet, they weren’t great rating getters. I enjoy them. If you notice, these are all very funny movies that have not been remade. Perhaps that’s a good test of a movie. They keep remaking the bad ones until they get it right. Make the right movie with the right actors the first time.
  • Certain kids music, such as the work of Parachute Express. Although some of it is quite dumbed down, other stuff is quite good. I also enjoy listening to odd stuff such as TV Themes and obscure musicals.
  • Livejournal. But of course. Isn’t this our shared guilty pleasure.
  • My Fountain Pens. I hate marking up documents on a computer. Give me a pen, a bottle of ink, a small bottle of water, and let me have at it. Much, much, much more pleasurable… at least for me. I’m sure those on the receiving end of my markups are less happy.
  • Bonus 6th Guilty Pleasure: Girl-watching. Yes, I do enjoy watching the scenery as it walks by. But looking is all I do, as I Love My Wife.

Now, according to the rules, I am to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names. I’m hesitant to do that, but wait…. you there. Yes, I mean you. I can see you on the other side of your screen. You look guilty to me. So share your pleasures with us (ummm, did I really say that?)
