Well, I’m back in the office—which means reading the papers over lunch. Here are a few interesting articles that I found:
- Cookie Design. One thing you probably never think about is cookie design. Here’s an interesting article about the subject: in particular, the design stamped into Oreo cookies and other biscuits… and who knew that the horrible Hydrox cookie was dead?
- Time Zones and Economies. Travelling across the midwest as I did last week, we got to experience the joy that is crossing back and forth between Central and Eastern time. Samoa has it harder: they are doing most of their trade with Australia, but are a day ahead. What to do? Simple. They are going to skip a day and change time zones, moving to the other side of the international date line.
- (Ir)Reconcilable Differences. An interesting article from the WSJ about Innies and Outties. This isn’t navel gazing, but the problems of introverts partnered to extroverts.
- But Duct Tape Solves All Problems. Yes, even medical problems. In this case, it marks the infectuous disease boundary, saving the cost of special gowns. The article also summarizes some other medical uses.
