Bloggers have replaced Hams

The thought just occured to me: Look at the impacts of personal blogging with respect to Katrina. Whereas ham operators used to provide status when disaster occured, it is now bloggers. Consider interdictor, who is at a datacenter with its own power on downtown N.O. He’s been updating regularly throughout the day. Or the SunHerald, which has a blog on blogspot where it is providing regular updates and finding reports for people. Or, for that matter, the Times-Picyune, which has a news blog up and running.

Just fascinating how blogging is changing the world. I think we’re going to be seeing even more creative uses of blogs. I know I’ve used it to keep folks informed when my dad was in the hospital.
