After a long hiatus, the reason for which readers of this blog know well, I have completed the October/November/December updates to Cahighways.Org. The specifics of the changes are too detailed to list them all here; you can find a complete list on my changes page (but note that this link will only be good until I do the January changes). Some highlights of the changes:
- Added information on the Southern Crossing to the San Francisco History page, based on information gleaned from an eBay auction of ‘A Report to the Department of Public Works on Additional Toll Crossings of San Francisco Bay‘ , Division of San Francisco Bay Toll Crossings, Department of Public Works, State of California, November 1948.
- Added updated information on El Camino Real, provided by Keith Robinson, Principal Landscape Architect, Landscape Architecture Program Division of Design of Caltrans.
- Added information on the possible renaming of the Bay Bridge as the Emperor Norton Bridge, first noted by internet_addict.
- Added some map and map links to the Southern California Map pages. This included adding links to PDF for the 1956 Master Planning Map for Southern California (
Link, 1.5MB) and the 2003 System Status Map (
Link, 4MB).
- Updated the Leglislative Information Page. Not much highway legislation, but two interesting bills related to changing how the electoral college votes in California.
This is in addition to the usual route updates and scanning of the CTC agendas.
Now, to go finish laundry and clean the house.
A Reminder to My Friends: If you are a boardgamer and you will be in the LA area on New Years Eve, please drop me a note or comment. I’ll add you to the appropriate filter and point you to the announcement of a New Years Eve Boardgaming Party.
