Today’s lunchtime news chum brings us three stories of things coming back to haunt us:
- Datsun. Nissan is reviving the Datsun brand, for use for low-price cars in developing markets such as India, Russia and Indonesia. I remember the first year of Nissan, for we had a Datsun Stanza as well as a Nissan Stanza.
- Animal House. This one is hard to imagine. Casey Nicolaw has plans to turn “Animal House” into a stage musical, with a score by pop band Barenaked Ladies (known for their hits “If I Had a Million Dollars,” “Jane”) and a libretto by Michael Mitnick (Second Stage Theatre Uptown’s Sex Lives of Our Parents).
- Forgiveness. Forgiveness can come back to haunt you, especially if what is forgiven is debt. Lots of taxpayers are discovering this when they are receiving 1099-Cs this tax season, for forgiven debt counts as income, and you have to pay taxes on it.
