I originally found a pointer to this article in a post by six_gun_samurai (seen in my FOAF list), but I felt it was worth repeating.
As many folks know by now, Southern Faire is not going to be in Devore this year. So where will it be? This article gives some insight. Some relevant quotes:
Some who attended the [special supporters meeting at Glen Helen Reg. Park] speculated that Irvine Meadows in Orange County will be the new home. Rikki Kipple, artistic director for Faire operator Renaissance Entertainment Corp., said a city was given a presentation Saturday and on Monday the company will learn if it may start the process for permits. Kipple would not name the city but said it had 800 acres to offer and is closer to the Faire’s fan base. The minimum requirement for the Faire is 140 acres, Kipple said. Eleven communities came forward to offer space, she said, and there were several possible sites in Orange County.
The article made it clear the intent is to have a faire this year, and they will be moving some of the permanent structures from the current site.
