So, am I a good parent? Here’s what one 18 year old single female thinks:

You scored 212 discipline, 150 tolerance, and 249 personality!
Discipline: Discipline is your middle name. You know where your kids are all of the time, and you know how to keep them in line. Your house has rules, and everyone knows how to follow them. This can be a very good thing, or it can be bad. Make sure to give your kids some freedom.

Tolerance: You seem to be a fairly tolerant person. You know when to not put up with things, and you know when some things are okay. This is a great trait to have! In some ways you could be a little more tolerant, and some ways you shouldn’t be as tolerant as you are. Way to go!

Personality: You have a very cheery personality and you probably get along with a lot of people. Sometimes, though, it’s okay to not make everyone happy. Overall, you make good decisions and you probably have happy kids.

So, what do I think. The author of this test comes down on discipline, but my actions were actually not that draconian in terms of discipline. However, her view is one of a teen, not a parent. Children do need boundaries and a measure of discipline, but reasoned discipline. The discipline should also fit the crime, so to speak, with harsher discipline going towards life-threatening situations; minor situations are more discussions. Still, I am a bit more of the disciplinarian than my wife.

So, am I a good parent? You’ll have to ask NSS&F in 20 years.

Update: NSS&F says the following: my dad is a great parent but he isnt a disciplinarian. No strict rules he is more of a tolerance sort of guy.
