Wow. I Made The Papers.

Q Read your tips on getting from the Bay Area to Los Angeles with interest, but there are a few you didn’t mention.

• First, when coming down 101 to Southern California, take San Marcos Pass (Route 154). It cuts about a half-hour off the route.

• As for avoiding the worst backups on I-5, it all depends on where those backups are, and the eventual location. Folks should consult www.sigalert.com if they can, and listen to KFWB-AM (980) and KNX-AM (1070) for traffic reports.

• The best answer, of course, is to allow plenty of time. Slow down, have a meal, and let the fools play on the freeway. Better to arrive at your destination rested and relaxed, and perhaps a little late, than to walk in with road rage.
