In Part II of today’s lunchtime news chum, some items related to food:
- From the “That was a Joke, Son” Department: The slogan for Pork used to be “The One You Love”. That slogan, of course, had its problems (see my userpic or the original photo). Their next slogan was “The Other White Meat”. Well, it appears they are enforcing that slogan a little too strongly: ThinkGeek received a cease and desist letter for using the slogan “The Next White Meat” for an April-Fools product: Canned Unicorn Meat. Mmmm. Sparkley.
- From the “It’s What a Hamburger’s All About” Department: The Chicago Times has a nice article on regional fast food. This, of course, raises the question: What’s your favorite regional fast food? For me, in California, it is In-N-Out, but in the midwest, it is Steak-and-Shake.
- From the “What Are The Consequences?” Department: We’ve all seen examples of not thinking things through—here in LA, the latest example was the City Council boycotting Arizona, only to discover that their red light camera contract is with an Arizona company. Here’s a food example. You know have there’s been this push to move from single-use bags (paper or plastic) to reusable bags. Well, it turns out that reusable bags are loaded with bacteria because they are never washed.
