The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly… But Not In That Order

Today’s vacation day was so-so. It started with a migraine (the bad), which has been with me off and on all day, even after 2 Maxalt and a T3 (the 2nd Maxalt was about an hour ago, tho…). So the morning wasn’t fun, other than finishing the first book I brought with me to read.

After the headache was damped down a bit and Karen had returned from some morning errands near the hotel, we worked our way over to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (the good), where we saw some interesting exhibits including a special exhibition of Richard Avedon’s work. Karen and Erin also walked down the street to the Museum of the African Disaspora. I walked across the street to the (alas closed) California Historical Society Museum, and then sat in front of Peets just people watching.

After that we had to deal with a meltdown: Erin would rather be home, with her friends and her cooking and her bed. Alas, that’s not happening, and we at least worked out how to salvage the evening: instead of formally going out, we went to Whole Foods and had a dinner like at home. Tomorrow we’ll see some friends in San Jose for lunch, and she can cook and clean there. We’ll also be seeing a different group of friends in Mountain View for dinner tomorrow night, followed by Tinyard Hill at TheatreWorks Palo Alto. Everyone says it is great, so we’re looking forward to it.
