Vacation Update: More Pismo Beach

Another update from Pismo… as I wrote last night, we made it up to Pismo. When we got here, we did a bunch of outlet mall shopping. Our best finds were at the Bass and Van Heusen outlets: they were doing sales of 50% off the price plus some percentage — for example, I got some $76 sandals for around $22. I won’t detail all that we got, but lets just say that everyone got some nice wardrobe updates. Dinner last night was at Mo’s BBQ in Pismo — now I’ve eaten at Mo’s before in SLO, and the quality is quite good. We also took some time to walk down to the beach. Saw an interesting store — Hotlix — that makes candy with bugs inside of it.

After dinner we returned to the hotel. Erin had a hard night — hormones combined with her first vacation away from her boyfriend combined with an uncomfortable sofa bed led to little sleep for the not-so-little-anymore girl. Once she figures out what she’s wearing today (teenagers :-)), she’s going to sack out for an hour or so in our bed. Hopefully, she’ll feel better after that.

Today is driving up to Santa Cruz. I don’t expect that many stops along the way, except perhaps to a gluten-free bakery in Atascadero. Our friend AJ will be meeting us in Santa Cruz, and then we’ll be going to Theatreworks in Palo Alto to see a staged reading of the new Groovelily show (well, actually a Val solo show), “Ernest Shackleton Loves Me“.

Wednesday will be in Monterey, as AJ and his wife have season passes to the aquarium (and we’re joining them). As for Thursday… perhaps we’ll be able to see lrc or honeywoney as we explore Santa Cruz and work our way up the coast to San Francisco.

More when we get to Santa Cruz…
