I’d like to call folks attention to a very good opinion piece in the LA Times by Patt Morrison about identity theft. In it, she discusses the theft of a piece of mail from her mailbox, and provides some good advice in the identity arena.
I’d also like to call attention to the security_fix blog, which I syndicate from the Washington Post. Very timely security advice. The latest post has some interesting information on some iTunes attacks, including the fact that the latest version has some security fixes. bruce_schneier is also an excellent security feed.
Lastly, especially for those on LJ, but it might apply elsewhere as well, the latest post in news has some good information on a recent attack on LJ, and has some very good advice… including to be careful when answering those memes circulating to not give out the answers to your various security questions. Answering that porn star name meme about the name of your first car and your favorite wine might just answer a common security question.
Chevrolet Gewürztraminer thanks you.
[Or, as Gene Spafford put in in a Facebook discussion, Edsel Ripple]
P.S.: For those reading this on Facebook: Please comment (either on FB or LJ) and let me know if you saw it? I’m curious how syndicated notes come through in the new interface.
