May Updates to California Highways

[Crossposted to cahwyguy and roadgeeks]

Yup, another day by myself. My wife and daughter are down in “The O.C.” visiting my sister-in-law and her kids for a birthday party, and they let me stay home and update the highway pages. And so…. I did…

No formal link updates, but I did need to repair some links to Joel Windmiller’s sites, which have been down for a few years. While I’m checking to see if they will ever be back, I did add some links to Joel’s original site (http://home.pacbell.net/hywaymn/), which still (amazingly) seems to be up. So go visit those Caltrans Bloopers and “C” blocks while you can!

Updated information on the following routes, based on my research(1), and contributions of information on leads (via direct mail or Usenet) from Timothy Edwards(2) and Steve from Softsys.Net(3):Route 4(2), Route 22(1), Route 55(2), Route 60(1), Route 73(1), Route 241(1), I-5(1,3), I-80(1), I-580(1), I-710(2), I-805(3).

Added some more information on the history of the Southern California Freeway System to the history pages–specifically, I added an interesting map that was published in the LA Times Blogs. I also updated the History of San Francisco Freeway Pages to reflect some information provided by Mike Brady on the San Jose St. undercrossing.

Updated the statistics on the progress of the exit mile numbering. Thanks to Don Howe of Caltrans for this information.

Updated the legislative information page.

Although the May meeting supposedly happened on May 2, 2007, the book items were not yet up.

You know, this month I didn’t even bother to check misc.transport.road. I’m finding less and less on Usenet these days.
