Swiss Invade Liechtenstein. News at 11.

No, I’m not making this up.

The Washington Post is reporting that during a routine training exercise, a company of Swiss soldiers got lost at night and marched into neighboring Liechtenstein. Specifically, 170 Swiss infantry soldiers wandered just over a mile across an unmarked border into the tiny principality early Thursday before realizing their mistake and turning back. The Swiss noted that there were unlikely to be any serious repercussions for the mistaken invasion, as they have spoken to the authorities in Liechtenstein and it’s not a problem. In fact, nobody in Liechtenstein even noticed the soldiers, who were carrying assault rifles but no ammunition. According to Interior ministry spokesman Markus Amman, “It’s not like they stormed over here with attack helicopters or something”. I’m wondering if they came carrying chocolate… or cheese…

Well, I think my tea is cool and I’ve dispensed with the morning’s email, so it’s off to my document…
