Boy, I’ve gotten lots and lots of birthday wishes today (which is a marked improvement over last year… perhaps when you’re over the hill, and they know you’re making a will :-)… just joking). Thank you to all the following folks on LJ for their wishes: ellipticcurve, kerinda, ixixlix, estherchaya, transitfan, tuluum, cellio, shutterbug93, spunkylizard, satyrlovesong, and tshuma (plus a few more that shouted out before the day’s end, such as talonvaki, cecerose, patgund, lifewithmikey, and mommyathome). I haven’t been on LJ for a year yet, and look at all the new friends I made.
This morning, while working at my desk, gf_guruilla and S&F came up to me and sang the Birthday Cake Polka by Sheriff John. This is my favorite birthday song. I really don’t like Happy Birthday To You (which, if you use, you technically should pay royalties to Warner Music). Of course, this raises the question of what other birthday songs there are. I’m aware of Birthday (Lennon/McCarney), and the Birthday Dirge (trad.). What are your favorite birthday songs?
My family gave me three really nice shirts and a cashmere sweater. I also got two really fun cards:

- S&F’s: Dad, I was all set to take you out to eat and buy you a really great gift for your birthday, but something was missing… your credit card… I looked everywhere! Did you hide it? Oh well, Happy Birthday anyway.

So, what have I done today? Well, I got in four hours of work from home, and impressed a program office. This is a good thing. pradagirl and me… busy before lunch! Guess that “Type A” meme was right. We also went down to Designer Bloopers and picked up this really neat coffee table that gf_guruilla found. It is 18″ high, and nominally 50″x28″ on the top, made out of a lovely dark wood. The top, however, flaps open to make the top 50″x56″. Great for gaming! Good find.
Tonight, we’re going to out to to dinner as a family, and tomorrow is Southern California Games Day. This is turning out to be one of my better birthdays.
