We’re Back Home

Hey it’s good to be back home again – you know it is
Sometimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend
Hey, it’s good to be back home again
I said hey it’s good to be back home again
“Back Home Again” (John Denver)

We’re back home. Saturday and Sunday were interesting.

The day started with a dim-sum lunch with my sister-in-law and her family. Quite yummy. After that, we went to the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona. Not that impressive from my point of view, but it is about one block from hotel we will be at next year.

After that, we went to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, which was loads and loads of fun. I took some digital pictures, but haven’t uploaded them yet. We then got on the road. I drove to our dinner stop, which was at the Cracker Barrel in Goodyear, Arizona. Of course, I can’t go anywhere without meeting someone; we actually ran into Paul Karger from the conference at the restaurant (he had spent the day at Organ Pipe National Monument). gf_guruilla drove the remainder of the way to our hotel in Ehrenberg, AZ. Yes, they were in the process of wiring for free high-speed wireless, but our room wasn’t connected yet.

This morning, we detoured back into Arizona to visit the gigantic swapmeet that is Quartzite Arizona. We picked up some neat stuff there. Then it was back home (I-10 to I-210 to CA 134 to CA 170 to I-5 to home), with a refueling stop in Indio. gf_guruilla drove from Ehrenberg AZ to Quartzite AZ, and then back to Indio CA. I took the remainder of the drive.

Now, it’s off to deal with the debris of the trip, and the debris that awaited us in the mail.
