I know I should get started on my highway page updates, but I’d rather play on the gaming pages. Now that I broke down and ordered Ticket To Ride: Europe because I couldn’t wait for it for Fathers Day, what do I still want. Here’s a summary of a few things on my wishlist:
- 10 Days in Europe. The inspiration (as Europa Tour) for 10 Days in Africa and 10 Days in the USA, this is finally being released in a US version. Easy game that I like. Not yet released.
- Blokus. A strategy game of placing tiles on a board, where they have to connect only at the corners, not the sides. Quite visually pleasing as well.
- TransEuropa. This is similar to the game Transamerica, but in Europe. I always like Transamerica, but it seems to have gotten overshadowed by Ticket to Ride.
- Carcassone: The City. This new variant of Carcassone, in a beautiful wooden box, has gotten good ratings and looks fun to play, but I haven’t played it yet (just seen it at Games Day).
What games do I not want. Simple:
- Supermunchkin. Heard the expression: fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Munchkin has gotten tiresome, what with the parodies of D&D (Munchkin 1, 2, 3); Kung Foo (Munchkin Foo 1, 2); Space Wars (Star Munchkin 1, 2); and Vampires (Munchkin Bites 1)… plus a blender to combine them all. Now SJG is releasing a parody of superheros. I think this is one too much.
- Killer Bunnies: The Quest for the Magic Carrot. I know the game looks cute. But step away from the box. I’ve already got the game and the yellow, red, violet, orange, and green expansions. I don’t play it, because (a) it is too silly, and (b) the endgame sucks. Please, please, please don’t even think about getting me the white or stainless steel expansions. If I want funny, I’ll play Cosmic Encounter (Eon Set), and if I want bunnies, I’ll play Wabbit Wampage.
OK, well I guess I’ve delayed long enough. Off to the highway pages, laundry, house hunting, helping ellipticcurve with her walkthrough, helping not-so-S&F with her science project, and in general taking my mind off my surgery tomorrow.
