Just Imagine: Alfred Hitchcock directing Bambi

Now I can.

A few gaming days ago, I was introduced to the game Traumfabrik. This is a Knizia auction game about producing movies using talent from the 50s. In four rounds, players bid on chips representing genuine directors, actors, camera, effects, music, guest stars and agents. These all get placed on players’ film-strips, to complete the movie production. So one movie might need 2 actors, but no music or effects and so on. As films are completed, the points value is marked and another film-strip taken. There are two parties each round where players get to pick from offers without paying anything. There are bonus points for first films completed and best films, best directors, even worst film.

It was published by Hasbro… in Germany. The only copies for sale have been European ones for at least €25.00… with expensive shipping to the US (at least €13). Today I happened to check… and there was a copy in the US for sale, only slightly played, for $37 plus $8.5 shipping. It is soon going to be winging-its-way to me.

Yes, the game is going to be republished in the US. But I wanted the German version with the real actors, as opposed to the “mock” names like Brad Pittless.
