(meme) Bad Book Meme/Movies Only You Remember

Umm, but this isn’t a bad book. It’s about the only Tolkein I’ve actually been able to get through.

take the WHAT BAD BOOK ARE YOU test.

In a similar vein, the following movies remain in my consciousness, but no one else seems to remember them:

  • The Crazy World of Julius Vrooder. Tagline: “If they think you’re crazy, you can get away with anything.“. Plot: Modern day whimsical tale about a offbeat Vietnam vet who resides at the local V.A. Hospital. He escapes and builds a underground fortress in a wooded area next to the highway. The place looks cleaner and better furnished than most people’s apartments. He concocts a scheme that allows him to steal both electrical and phone service. This is a major consternation to the heads of the local phone and electrical company. They go on a mission to find out who he is and how he is doing it. They even go through a list of mug shots consisting of ‘dangerous’ looking people known to have stolen service. This actually proves to be the films funniest moment (though the tired, elderly vets who have to do a perpetual ten gun salute isn’t bad either). He also creates a romantic bond with his doctors fiancee (Hershey).
  • Another Nice Mess. Tagline: America’s funniest comedy team of the decade… Richie and Spiro. Plot: Nixon and Agnew as Laurel and Hardy. Need we say a lot more?
  • The Sterile Cuckoo. Plot: Liza Minnelli is Pookie Adams, a relentlessly kooky coed in The Sterile Cuckoo. The film’s focus, however, is on Wendell Burton (likewise making his first screen appearance) as reserved young college student Jerry. He is actively pursued by the unpredictable Pookie, who helps him to survive his first months in school. Gradually, however, it is obvious that Jerry is outgrowing Pookie. Both, however, have benefited from the relationship (he has gained self-confidence, she is now able to come to grips with her unhappy home life) and their parting is a tender one.
