zarchasmpgmr just emailed me the sad news that Gary Araki, a long time “road scholar” and contributor to California Highways, has passed away. The sheriffs found him in his house, on his bed; he died sometime after Saturday. I’m monitoring the wires for an obit.
Additionally, while looking for the obit, I discovered the obit for Captain Sacto (Harry Martin), a long-time children’s TV personality in the Sacramento TV market. I know a number of folks grew up in that area, so I wanted to pass that info on as well.
