So, are the Official Languages French and Danish?

It appears that Canada and Denmark are squabbling over ownership of Hans Island, situated between Canada’s Ellesmere Island and Greenland, which belongs to Denmark. The fight has now moved to the level of Google paid ads. Recently, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted with regret that the Canadian Minister of National Defence had paid a visit to Hans Island without prior notification of the Danish Government. Of course, when the minister visited, he “planted a Canadian flag and erected an Inukshuk, the traditional stone marker of the Inuit.” Of course, Denmark sent its own navy ships to the island in 2002 and 2003 and hoisted a Danish flag then.

Canada is still being a good sport, as they have indicated that they still will still allow its cafeteria to sell Danish pastries as a goodwill gesture towards the Danish government and people”. No word yet on whether the Danish are still serving Salmon Mousse, the national food of Canada.
