If You Don’t Know The Words…

As folks know, we’re in the process of unpacking and setting things up in our new house. This includes the computers, and hence this post.

One of the things I like to do is burn my licorice pizza collection (LPs) to CDs. To do this, I have a connection between my amplifier (CDR Out) to my computer. At the old house, this worked just find, and muting the LINE IN seemed to mute any noise from the connection when the amp wasn’t on… and we had a fair amount of noise at the old house, living under some AM transmission towers.

I’m having trouble at the new house. First, I can no longer find the LINE IN. There are three places I can plug the mini jack: pink (Mic), green (Speaker Out), and blue (Subwoofer, I think). So it’s plugged into the pink, and MIC seems to control it.

Secondly, and more importantly, when it is connected, I have a large amount of 60hz line hum. An annoying amount of hum. I can’t figure out what to do to get rid of it. Suggestions would be welcomed.
