Gaming Report – So Calif Games Day 19

It’s morning, my headache is gone, so here is my report on gaming yesterday.

The 19th Southern California Games Day held at the Moose Lodge in Burbank was great. I’ve really grown to like the games days—they are much much better than open gaming at a convention, when you don’t know the folks and have to pay bokuu bucks just to play. These are only $5 for a full day of gaming. I thank the organizers, esepecially Dave, Devon, and Scott. Want to come to future games? Visit the games day homepage and/or subscribe to the Yahoo Mailing List.

Enough shilling. What did we play? Lots (Geek List):

Both cahwyguy and S&F cahwyguy only S&F only
Tigris & Euphrates Dragon Delta Ticket to Ride
Carcassone Streetcar Munchkin Foo
  Ticket to Ride Munchkin Bites
Speed Circuit (Grand Primo de España) Coloretto × 2
10 Days in Africa Blue Moon
    Palabra

I only won one game: my last game of Ticket to Ride, by one point. S&F says that she won both TTR and Munchkin Bites. The next games day is in March: I hope I can make it.

So what other gaming is upcoming? Well, I’ve thought about going to either Orccon or Conquest LA, but the prices still turn me off. Orccon is $19 for a one-day pass ($35 full weekend, slightly less with pre-reg) and Conquest LA is roughly the same price, plus there is parking at Airport Hotel prices for both. Feh—this doesn’t make sense unless you’re in tournaments. More likely, I’ll do a day of open gaming that weekend at our house (drop me a note if you’re in the Greater LA area and might be interested in an invite). Jennifer will be doing a Games Gather in La Cañada the last weekend of April, but I’ll have to see how that works out with respect to 1st and 2nd Seders, so we might be hosting gaming again in April.

My compliments to S&F for her behavior at Games Day; she only annoyed me once while playing T&E (“What Time is it Daddy?”)… and she claims that was tactics to interrupt my stream of thought! It worked; she came in 2nd to my 3rd!

So, what’s up for today: For me, a home day while S&F goes to religious school (didn’t happen: the week caught up with her and she was too exhausted). We’ll be doing some cooking today: a kugel and a roast; the kugel being for tonight’s Tu B’Shevet Potluck at temple.
