I&#8217;ve already written <a href=\"https:\/\/cahighways.org\/wordpress\/?p=6925\">a post about some things that went away at the end of 2012<\/a>. Here are some more things that are going away:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rabbi Don Goor<\/strong>. From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewishjournal.com\/los_angeles\/article\/temple_judea_board_approves_new_senior_rabbi#When:20:55:46Z\">an article in the Jewish Journal<\/a> I learned that Rabbi Don Good and his partner, Evan Kent, are making aliyah. I knew Don when we were campers together. I wish him the best of luck.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exploratorium at Palace of Fine Arts. <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/science\/article\/Crowds-jam-Exploratorium-on-its-last-day-4163167.php\">Wednesday was the last day of the Exploratorium at the Palace of Fine Arts location<\/a>. It is now in the process of moving to the new buildings at the pier. What will become of the Palace? Your guess is as good as mine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Current TV<\/strong>.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/news\/article\/Al-Jazeera-buys-S-F-s-Current-TV-4163168.php\">Al Gore has sold Current TV to another Al, Al Jazeera<\/a>. Although I understand why he did this, and why Mr. Jazeera was buying it, I really wish he hadn&#8217;t done it. This is just going to play into all the conspiracy theorists who believe there is a great Islamic conspiracy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>St. George, Missouri<\/strong>. One village in St. Louis County decided to disincorporate at the end of 2011 and go back to being part of the county. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stltoday.com\/suburban-journals\/metro\/news\/st-george-disincorporation-brings-minor-changes-to-landscape\/article_23501b82-e668-5c55-b8ea-4ddecefa8d1a.html\">Guess what happened. Not very much<\/a>. The speed limits have been raised, and there are fewer stop signs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A Wikipedia Hoax. <\/strong>For over 5 years, a page has existed on Wikipedia about when India clashed with Portugal in the Bicholem Conflict. Only one problem: it never happened. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailydot.com\/news\/wikipedia-bicholim-conflict-hoax-deleted\/\">Wikipedia has finally removed the pages<\/a>. Remember boys and girls: Wikipedia is not authoritative.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Macys in Pasadena<\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scpr.org\/news\/2013\/01\/03\/35510\/macys-close-pasadena-store-colorado-boulevard\/\">Macys is closing the store in Pasadena at Paseo Colorado<\/a>. I remember when that used to be the Broadway. I seem to recall it being a Broadway Clearance store as well.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Canadian Penny<\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mint.ca\/store\/mint\/learn\/eliminating-the-penny-6900002\">The Canadians have opted to get rid of the penny<\/a>. Well, actually, they are only getting rid of it for cash transactions. Pay by check or credit card, and you&#8217;ll have to have common cents. (ducks and runs)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Christmas Trees<\/strong>. Ever wonder what happens to those Christmas Trees on the curbs after Christmas. <a href=\"http:\/\/zev.lacounty.gov\/communities\/around-the-county\/lights-out-for-l-a-christmas-trees\">Zev&#8217;ll tell you<\/a>. They are recycled, yes, but there are many different ways to recycle them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Elvis in Utah<\/strong>. Yup. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/2013\/01\/03\/5090275\/utah-school-stops-musical-with.html\">A Salt Lake City community has deemed an Elvis musical, <em>All Shook Up<\/em>, to be too racy for their children to perform<\/a>. Oh, that pelvis! (ETA: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailynews.com\/lalife\/ci_22304263\/utah-school-stops-musical-elvis-songs-racy\">They are doing the musical after all, after the producers permitted some edits<\/a>)\u00a0 (ETA: Related to this&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vcstar.com\/news\/2013\/jan\/04\/utah-city-renames-street-due-to-sexual\/\">another community near Salt Lake City has renamed Morning Glory Road to Morning Vista Road because of the sexual connotation of the name, Morning Glory<\/a>.
