\nToday was an at home day. I initially did what is either my ultimate or penultimate TBT<\/a> newsletter (which this month was a mini 5-page newsletter), and then jumped into cleaning (decluttering) the house. What I do to keep my off the computer when doing this is easy: I endulge my hobby of recording. <\/p>\n

You see, I love to hit Record Surplus<\/i>, a used record<\/a> store in West Los Angeles. I’ll plunk down some cash, and pick up loads of vinyl, especially good obscure stuff that never made it to CD. Last time I was down there, I picked a load of stuff, including The Grand Tour<\/i>, a little-known Jerry Herman musical with Joel Grey, and 70, Girls, 70<\/i>, a Kander-Ebb Musical. Today I explored Roxio 7<\/a> and figured out the best way to do audio capture (Sound Editor is better than Capture because you can control input volume), and recorded them to CD. I find the new Sound Editor a little more complicated to use than Version 4’s Spin Doctor, and they still don’t have a good text editing interface for the Label Creator (I’d like to be able use multiple fonts in a single text box, and the new version isn’t WYSIWYG in the box). CD Wave<\/a>, a great shareware splitting tool, is still great. In any case, I stay off the computer whilst recording when the music is slurping in, so I work on the house, enjoying the music.<\/p>\n

Got a lot done too: in addition to burning 2 CDs, I got both the living room and the dining room straightened out. We decided to give into the heat, and hit SoupPlantation for dinner. Now I’m off to go collapse.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
