It&#8217;s time to clear out the remaining accumulated links&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Iranian Jews.<\/strong> As we&#8217;re talking politics: Iran has been in the news of late. The Jewish Journal has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewishjournal.com\/the_ticket\/item\/a_history_of_iranian_jews#When:19:06:29Z\">a nice article on the history of the Jewish community in Iran &#8212; its ups and its downs &#8212; which is being highlighted in a new exhibit<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Dog Did What?<\/strong> We&#8217;ve all heard the line: The dog ate my homework. The line was even used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/entertainment\/tv\/feathers-fly-at-nickelodeon\/2012\/10\/08\/b5c37f1e-118f-11e2-ba83-a7a396e6b2a7_story.html?hpid=z2\">by the Obama camp when discussing Romney&#8217;s refusal to go on with Linda Ellerbee<\/a> to talk to kids about running for President. But have you ever wondered where that line came from? Wonder no more. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/articles\/life\/explainer\/2012\/10\/did_anybody_ever_believe_the_excuse_the_dog_ate_my_homework_.html\">Slate explores whether the dog really did eat the homework<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New at 7-11<\/strong>. This week was the convention of convenience store operators in Vegas. So what new is coming to 7-11? How about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vegasinc.com\/news\/2012\/oct\/08\/coming-soon-7-11-near-you-eco-friendly-condoms-non\/\">Energy Chocolate&#8230; Non-stick gum that washes away with soap and water&#8230; vegan condoms&#8230; portable breathalyzers&#8230; bacon jerkey<\/a>&#8230; or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lvrj.com\/business\/convenience-stores-showcase-candy-food-and-caffeinated-ice-cream-173194601.html\">caffeinated ice cream<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Corporate Logos<\/strong>. If you know me, you know corporate logos fascinate me. I still have a box of articles back from when the NBC Peacock was replaced by the &#8220;N&#8221;&#8230; and the peacock&#8217;s eventual return. So naturally, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/columbus\/news\/2012\/10\/11\/wendys-modernizing-logo-dropping.html?ana=RSS&amp;s=article_search\">I have to tell you that &#8220;Wendys&#8221; is updating their logo, dropping the &#8220;old fashioned&#8221; tag<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10000872396390443749204578050790958914674.html#slide\/1\">all Wendy&#8217;s logos over the years<\/a>). Will it up their business? Probably not. After all, I doubt Ebay&#8217;s logo change has made much of a difference. As we&#8217;re talking marketing, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/money\/la-fi-mo-auto-white-cars-20121011,0,849710.story\">white and black are now the most popular car colors<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/la-fi-corn-turkey-bankruptcy-20121012,0,4991199.story\">Zacky Farms (one of the major chicken producers in California) has filed for bankruptcy<\/a>. I remember the days when, in California, you would only eat chicken from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zacky.com\/\">Zacky<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fosterfarms.com\/\">Foster<\/a> Farms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Moving the Shuttle<\/strong>. Today, Endeavor moves to the ScienCenter. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/local\/la-me-1011-shuttle-drive-20121011,0,3635485.story\">It is amazing how involved the move is<\/a>. From massive steel plates to protect streets, having to use dollies to cross the freeway, a ballet of raising and lowering power, raising and lowering streets, moves inches from buildings, and having to zig-zag the shuttle to avoid trees. Supervisor Zev has <a href=\"http:\/\/zev.lacounty.gov\/news\/arts-culture\/museums\/how-to-see-endeavour-ride-into-sunset\">a bit more information (especially about Caltrans requirements)<\/a>, and they have to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scpr.org\/programs\/offramp-extra\/2012\/10\/10\/28799\/newpark-mats-smooth-shuttle-endeavours-ride\/\">use special mats to get it across the lawn at the ScienCenter<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it&#8217;s Friday at lunch time (well, it&#8217;s really Thursday night, but let&#8217;s do like they did at the debate and play &#8220;let&#8217;s pretend&#8221;).
