A couple of automobile related items. First, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/local\/la-me-0515-holland-20120515,0,6881255,full.story\" target=\"_blank\">Ford has stopped making the iconic Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, but that doesn&#8217;t make them any less popular<\/a>. Entire groups and clubs have formed to celebrate the car whose silhouette inspires fear. Secondly, here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.sfgate.com\/thebigevent\/2012\/05\/17\/san-franciscos-auto-row-then-and-now\/#5182-1\" target=\"_blank\">an interesting piece on San Francisco&#8217;s Auto Row&#8230; with lots of before and after pictures<\/a>. It makes me think of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jacobmaarse.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">the flower dealer next to the Pasadena Playhouse<\/a>, which is housed in a former Cadillac shop.<\/li>\n<li><strong>News for the Jews<\/strong>. Two items of interest from the Jewish Journal. The first is political: we&#8217;re in a redrawn congressional district where there is a battle royale going on between Howard Berman and Brad Sherman. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewishjournal.com\/berman_v_sherman\/item\/brad_shermans_family_portrait_jewish_and_goyish_editions_20120517\/#When:00:23:50Z\" target=\"_blank\">Brad Sherman just released a political mailer showing his family at a local playground&#8230; but photoshopped out his mother for the non-Jewish recipients<\/a>. The other article is culinary: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewishjournal.com\/los_angeles\/article\/trader_joes_comes_up_against_some_tough_cookies_20120517\/#When:23:50:54Z\" target=\"_blank\">due to a change in the packaging equipment (not ingredients), TJ&#8217;s Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips are moving from K-Pareve to K-Dairy, and this has kosher consumers up in arms<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>In One End and Out The Other<\/strong>. Two somewhat food related items. Carl&#8217;s Jr (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/la-fi-carlsjr-ipo-20120518,0,7530797.story\" target=\"_blank\">who is about to do an IPO<\/a>) has started testing a new product: <a href=\"http:\/\/fastfood.ocregister.com\/2012\/05\/18\/carls-jr-ice-cream-burger\/155348\/\" target=\"_blank\">an Ice Cream Burger consisting of chocolate ice cream between two sugar cookies, with red, yellow, and green frosting to simulate condiments<\/a>. On the other end of things, there may soon be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/science\/sciencenow\/la-sci-sn-laxative-free-colonoscopy-20120514,0,1314006.story\" target=\"_blank\">a laxative free colonoscopy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What&#8217;s In a Word?<\/strong> Many years ago, I learned that the words we use can slant our views: contrast &#8220;terrorist&#8221; vs. &#8220;freedom fighter&#8221;. Here&#8217;s another example. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/local\/la-me-census-births-20120518,0,5678651.story\" target=\"_blank\">News has come out that more non-white babies are being born than white babies<\/a>. Some, I&#8217;m sure, are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/politics\/topoftheticket\/la-na-tt-white-babies-20120517,0,6339751.story\" target=\"_blank\">finding a way to take advantage of this<\/a>. My question is this: so why are we still referring to the non-white babies as &#8220;minorities&#8221;? Here&#8217;s another example: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/la-fi-lazarus-20120518,0,2146391.column\" target=\"_blank\">Google&#8217;s &#8220;customer service&#8221;<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>And Lastly<\/strong>&#8230; an interesting story out of St. Louis, where a stack of cash\u00a0was found inside a box of Christmas donations that had been donated to\u00a0the Goodwill store on Baptist Church Road. In fact, $14,505!
