That lead to a late lunch today, and thus this post. Here are a few upcoming theatre productions I&#8217;ve noted of late that I&#8217;m meaning to investigate. This is mostly for my own edification and enjoyment, but you might find it of interest as well:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Xanadu<\/strong>. Today&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lastagetimes.com\/2012\/02\/la-stage-insider-52\/\">LA Stage Insider<\/a> had an intriguing mention of a new theatre company (or at least new to me): the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.domatheatre.com\/\">DOMA Theatre Company<\/a>, which is launching its first full season of musicals&#8211;the six-show linup, at the MET Theatre in Hollywood, is:\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>1993 Tony winner <em>The Who\u2019s Tommy<\/em> (Mar 23\u2013Apr 15), by Pete Townshend (book, music &amp; lyrics), Des McAnuff (book), helmed by Hallie Barran;\u00a0<em><\/em><\/li>\n<li>The Jason Robert Brown song cycle,<em> Songs For A New World <\/em>(May 11\u2013June 3), helmed by Chris M. Allport;<\/li>\n<li><em>Jekyll &amp; Hyde, The Musical<\/em>(July 6\u2013July 29), created by Leslie Bricusse (book &amp; lyric), Frank Wildhorn (music), helmed by Marco Gomez;<\/li>\n<li>2007 Tony-nominated, LA-set\u00a0 roller skating tuner <em>Xanadu<\/em> (Aug 17\u2013Sep 9), book by Douglas Carter Beane, music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar, helmed by Baran;<\/li>\n<li><em>Once on This Island<\/em> (Sep 21\u2013Oct 14), Lynn Ahrens (book &amp; Lyrics), Stephen Flaherty (music), helmed by Gomez;<\/li>\n<li>\u201cA surprise, Tony-Award winning musical TBA\u201d (Nov. 2\u2013Dec. 9)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now of these, <em>Xanadu<\/em> is quite interesting. I&#8217;m not sure it has been done in LA; I certainly haven&#8217;t seen it. I remember when it was on Broadway, and it was supposedly quite fun.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rooms: A Rock Musical<\/strong>. A mention by someone on Facebook alerted me to the fact that &#8220;<em>Rooms: A Rock Musical<\/em>&#8221; is currently at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chancetheater.com\/\">the Chance Theatre<\/a> in Orange County. Now <em>Rooms<\/em> is one of those musicals for which I&#8217;ve heard the musical and haven&#8217;t seen it. Alas, it is only running until March 4, and it doesn&#8217;t really fit into the schedule, especially with the drive down to the Anaheim Hills. Discount tickets <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lastagealliance.com\/roomsmusical\/\">are available<\/a>. Alas, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chancetheater.com\/box\/2012.php\">nothing else in their 2012 season looks interesting<\/a>; I&#8217;m still kicking myself for not being able to see &#8220;<em>Jerry Springer: The Opera<\/em>&#8221; when they did it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For Colored Girls&#8230;<\/strong> Another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lastagetimes.com\/2012\/02\/considering-the-end-of-the-rainbow-is-it-enuf\/\">LA Stage Times post<\/a> reminded me that <a href=\"http:\/\/lyrictheatrela.com\/\">the Lyric Theatre<\/a> in Hollywood is doing &#8220;<em>For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf<\/em>&#8220;. This is a show I&#8217;ve heard about. I may try to fit this in during March, especially if <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goldstar.com\/los-angeles\/events?q=lyr\">Goldstar<\/a> or LA Stage Tix tickets are available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Twentieth Century<\/strong>. This one I am going to. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sierramadreplayhouse.org\/\">Sierra Madre Playhouse<\/a> is doing a revival of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sierramadreplayhouse.org\/20th_century.html\">Cy Coleman&#8217;s &#8220;<em>On the Twentieth Century<\/em>&#8220;<\/a>.\u00a0 Alas, when I ticketed it, I forgot to check if <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lastagealliance.com\/20th-century\/\">LA Stage Alliance discounts<\/a> were available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Music: <\/strong><em>Chronicle: 20 Greatest Hits<\/em> (Creedence Clearwater Revival): Down on the Corner<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This has been a busy week, what with loads of meetings, getting in early and such.
