Yesterday was <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2011\/10\/18\/facebook-spirit-day\/?hpt=hp_bn11\" target=\"_blank\">Spirit Day on Facebook<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2011\/10\/20\/opinion\/granderson-spirit-day\/index.html?hpt=hp_t2\" target=\"_blank\">the notion of wearing purple to support gay rights was spreading<\/a>. I have two LGBT related items. The first looks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/local\/la-me-gay-schools-20111016,0,6753592.story\" target=\"_blank\">the difficulties LA Unified is facing in integrating LGBT history into its curriculum<\/a>. My thoughts: There&#8217;s not much you need to do, because we haven&#8217;t been specifically excluding history (to my knowledge) because of the sexual orientation of the historical figure &#8212; we just haven&#8217;t been talking about orientation. The only real change might be in a discussion of civil rights where you bring up the appropriate folks who made changes (how many schools will show &#8220;Milk&#8221;). Of course, some are resistant to change. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/playblog\/?jump=19356\" target=\"_blank\">A group of students a Connecticut high school walked out of a recent afternoon performance of the GLAAD Award-winning musical Zanna, Don\u2019t! after two male cast members kissed on stage, according to CBS Connecticut<\/a>. It appeared to be mostly football players.\n<li><b>Barbie at OERM?<\/b> <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052970204479504576637293995575966.html?mod=googlenews_wsj\" target=\"_blank\">Mattel is in talks to buy Hit Entertainment, owners of Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder, and Dora the Explorer<\/a>.\n<li><b>Dried Plums<\/b>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/features\/home\/la-fo-marketwatch-20111014,0,6174237.story\" target=\"_blank\">The Muir Beauty is supposedly a better prune, but they can&#8217;t get anyone to buy it<\/a>.\n<li><b>Flight Attendants.<\/b> You think deregulation of airlines just lowered the quality of service. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/business\/archive\/2011\/10\/the-declining-hotness-of-flight-attendants\/246610\/\" target=\"_blank\">It also lowered the &#8220;hotness&#8221; of flight attendants, according to the Atlantic<\/a>.\n<li><b>Tasty Food<\/b>.
