The article was there because a colleague, <a href=\"http:\/\/fauxklore.livejournal.com\/\" class=\"lj-user\">fauxklore<\/a>, contributed pieces to it.  The entire reef exhibit consists of a variety of \u201csub-reefs\u201d made by crocheting, and is a combination art project, mathematical wonder, science lesson, and environmental awareness effort. The basic approach is to use crochet to make models of hyperbolic space, where amount of surface area is maximized with a limited volume. <\/p>\n<p>Cool.
