It is still applicable this year, so I feel like repeating it.<\/p>\n<p>During this time of year, we are normally innudated with Christmas music. Now, if you happen to like Christmas music, that&#8217;s great. If you don&#8217;t (or if you&#8217;re not Christian), turning on the radio on December 1<sup>st<\/sup> is a moment you dread. Yet, this post is about Christmas (and holiday) music&#8230; specifically, the kind of music that you <b>do not<\/b> hear on the radio.<\/p>\n<p>The question: What are your three favorite holiday songs or recordings that <u>do not<\/u> get commercial airplay or publicity? Provide the lyrics if you can (behind a cut)<\/p>\n<p>Here are mine:<\/p>\n<p>1. <b><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.amazon.com\/images\/P\/B000002KAV.01.THUMBZZZ.jpg\" width=50 height=50 align=\"Right\" hspace=8><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterpaulandmary.com\/music\/f-10-11.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Christmas Dinner<\/a><\/b> (Noel Paul Stookey 1969)<br \/>\nAlthough I&#8217;m not Christian, to me, this song embodies what I feel <i>should be<\/i> the spirit of the holiday. Alas, this song captures best how Christmas is actually practiced today. It&#8217;s become tradition!<br \/>\nSCROOGE:  You there, Crass, uhh, I suppose your company&#8217;s running the usual magazine ads showing cartons of your cigarettes peeking out of the top of Santa&#8217;s sack?<br \/>\nCRASS: Better than that! This year we have him smoking one.<br \/>\nSCROOGE:  Um-hmmm&#8230;<br \/>\nCRASS: Yes. We&#8217;ve got Santa a little more rugged, too. Both sleeves rolled up and a tattoo on each arm. One of &#8217;em says &#8220;Merry Christmas.&#8221;<br \/>\nSCROOGE:  What does the other one say?<br \/>\nCRASS: &#8220;Less tar!&#8221;<br \/>\nSCROOGE:  Great stuff!<br \/>\nCRATCHET: But Mr.Scrooge&#8230;<br \/>\nSCROOGE:  What? Who are you?<br \/>\nCRATCHET: Bob Cratchet, sir. I&#8217;ve got a little spice company over in East Orange, New Jersey. Do I have to tie my product in to Christmas?<br \/>\nSCROOGE:  What do you mean?<br \/>\nCRATCHET: Well, I was just going to send cards out showing the three wise men following the Star of Bethlehem&#8230;<br \/>\nSCROOGE: I get it! And they&#8217;re bearing your spices. Now that&#8217;s perfect.<br \/>\nCRATCHET: No, no&#8230; no product in it. I was just going to say, &#8220;Peace on Earth&#8230; Good Will Toward Men.&#8221;<br \/>\nVOICES:     MUMBLING IN BACKGROUND<br \/>\nMAN:  Well, that&#8217;s a peculiar slogan!<br \/>\nSCROOGE: Old hat, Cratchet! That went out with button shoes! You&#8217;re a businessman . . . The story of Christmas, in its simplicity, is a good thing &#8211; I&#8217;ll buy that.
