Today, I read of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2005\/SHOWBIZ\/TV\/11\/02\/television.trek.reut\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">the death of Michael Piller<\/a> of Star Trek fame, at the age of 57. Piller was head writer on &#8220;Star Trek: The Next Generation,&#8221; leading the show to a best drama Emmy nomination in 1994, the first for a syndicated series.<\/p>\n<p>Too many deaths. Far too young.<\/p>\n<p>I remember two years ago when <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2003\/SHOWBIZ\/TV\/01\/23\/nell.carter.obit\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nell Carter died at the age of 56<\/a>. When I said she died far too young, I realized I had crossed into &#8220;old&#8221;.
