{"id":2662,"date":"2008-02-06T06:20:00","date_gmt":"2008-02-06T14:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cahighways.org\/wordpress\/?p=2662"},"modified":"2008-02-06T06:20:00","modified_gmt":"2008-02-06T14:20:00","slug":"los-angeles-theatre-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cahighways.org\/wordpress\/?p=2662","title":{"rendered":"Los Angeles Theatre News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before I start packing (I\u2019ve been out of town doing testing, and I return to LA today), a few theatre tidbits gleaned from my perusal of the news:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Jason Robert  Brown musical \u201c<i>Parade<\/i>\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/news\/article\/114863.html\">will be coming to Los Angeles<\/a> July 11th, making its debut at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neighborhoodplayhouse.net\/\">Neighborhood Playhouse<\/a>.\n<li>The Dolly Parton musical \u201c9-to-5\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centertheatregroup.org\/tickets\/productiondetail.aspx?id=4910\">will be making its debut<\/a> September 3 (through October 19) at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centertheatregroup.org\/\">the Ahmanson Theatre<\/a> as the opening production in their 2008-2009 season. Remaining productions in the season are not yet announced.\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodbowl.com\/\">Hollywood Bowl<\/a> will present <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/news\/article\/114735.html\">3 concert performances<\/a> of \u201c<i>Les Miserables<\/i> in early August 2008.\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.playbill.com\/news\/article\/114841.html\">LA Drama Critics nominations have been announced<\/a>, and I\u2019m pleased to see a large number of nominations for both \u201c<i>13<\/i>\u201d and \u201c<i>Zanna Don\u2019t<\/i>\u201d, both productions we have seen. \u201c<i>Winter Wonderettes<\/i>\u201d also has a fair shake of nominations. Still precious little for the Pasadena Playhouse, and I don\u2019t believe they even think of Saugus and the REP when they build their lists.<\/ul>\n<p>In weirder theatre news, three words: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.broadway.com\/gen\/Buzz_Story.aspx?ci=559282\">Shrek: The Musical<\/a>\u201d is bound for Broadway in Fall 2008. It features a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, High Fidelity) and music by Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, or Change; Thoroughly Modern Millie).
