The Grammy-Award-winning singer-songwriter Dolly Parton<\/b> has another job, writing the music and lyrics for a new stage version of \u201c9 to 5,\u201d based on the 1980 movie starring Ms. Parton, Jane Fonda<\/b>, Lily Tomlin<\/b> and Dabney Coleman<\/b>. Patricia Resnick<\/b>, a co-author of the original screenplay, wrote the new book. Joe Mantello<\/b> (\u201cThe Ritz\u201d) is slated to direct the production, which is to have its premiere at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles next fall. Andy Blankenbuehler<\/b> (\u201cIn the Heights\u201d) will handle the choreography. Previews are scheduled to begin Sept. 3. The main roles have been cast: Allison Janney<\/b> of the TV series \u201cThe West Wing,\u201d Stephanie J. Block<\/b> (\u201cThe Pirate Queen,\u201d \u201cWicked\u201d) and Megan Hilty<\/b> (\u201cWicked\u201d) as the three co-workers who take control of the office from their egotistical boss, Franklin Hart Jr., to be played by Marc Kudisch<\/b> (\u201cThe Glorious Ones\u201d).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The dates mean this is likely the inaugural production of the 2008-2009 Taper-Ahmanson season. Hmmm, looks like season tickets for the Ahmanson two years in a row. Note that the cast is essentially the workshop cast<\/a>, intact.<\/p>\n
