Recent discussions with shutterbug93<\/a> have made me aware of some more upcoming theatre of interest. I’m posting this here mostly for my reference, but others might be interested as well:<\/p>\n

Valley Musical Theatre<\/a>: The 2007 has at least 3 musicals of interest: They’re Playing Our Song<\/a> (Feb 23-Mar 11, 2007); Little Shop of Horrors<\/a> (April 20-May 6, 2007); and Baby<\/a> (Sept 21-Oct 7, 2007). I’ve seen two of these before: I saw “They’re Playing Our Song” when it was originally at the Ahmanson in the 1970s, and “Baby” in the mid-1990s when it was at the Morgan-Wixson. This might be worth season tickets.<\/p>\n

Santa Clarita Rep East<\/a>: The REP has made a change to their 2007 season. The second show is now The Last 5 Years<\/a>. I saw this earlier this year at the Pasadena Playhouse<\/a>, but I know that nsshere<\/a> wants to see it, so perhaps I’ll take her.<\/p>\n

Steve Allen Theatre<\/a>: The MySpace page for The Beastly Bombing<\/a> announces the dates for the 2007 shows. For those that haven’t seen it, it is worth going to<\/a>. Prepare to be offended. You can get snippits of the music from the MySpace page or the Beastly Bombing home page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Magnificent Moorpark Melodrama and Vaudeville Company<\/strike> Theatre on High Street<\/a>: There are two melodramas on the schedule<\/a>: The Beatles Slept Here! (Jan 27-Feb 11, 2007) and Rex Bravo the Whistling Cowboy (April 6-29, 2007). These were fun in the days of the “Triple M”, and might be worth exploring.<\/p>\n

Moorpark College<\/a>: This is where I took nsshere<\/a> to see her first musical. They have some interesting productions coming up, but their full 2007 schedule isn’t up yet.<\/p>\n

\nSo what’s next on the Theatre calendar for me? We’re seeing Santaland Diaries\/Seasons Greetings<\/i> this Saturday at the REP, and of course, on Christmas, we’re doing what every good Jew does: we’re seeing a movie–most likely Dreamgirls<\/i> (which I originally saw at the Schubert during it’s original tour) and having Chinese food.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
