Boy, I’ve gotten lots and lots of birthday wishes today (which is a marked improvement over last year… perhaps when you’re over the hill, and they know you’re making a will :-)… just joking). Thank you to all the following folks on LJ for their wishes: ellipticcurve<\/a>, kerinda<\/a>, ixixlix<\/a>, estherchaya<\/a>, transitfan<\/a>, tuluum<\/a>, cellio<\/a>, shutterbug93<\/a>, spunkylizard<\/a>, satyrlovesong<\/a>, and tshuma<\/a> (plus a few more that shouted out before the day’s end, such as talonvaki<\/a>, cecerose<\/a>, patgund<\/a>, lifewithmikey<\/a>, and mommyathome<\/a>). I haven’t been on LJ for a year yet, and look at all the new friends I made.<\/p>\n

This morning, while working at my desk, gf_guruilla<\/a> and S&F came up to me and sang the Birthday Cake Polka<\/a> by Sheriff John<\/a>. This is my favorite birthday song. I really don’t like Happy Birthday To You<\/a> (which, if you use, you technically should pay royalties to Warner Music<\/a>). Of course, this raises the question of what other birthday songs there are. I’m aware of Birthday<\/a><\/i> (Lennon\/McCarney), and the Birthday Dirge<\/i><\/a> (trad.). What are your favorite birthday songs?<\/p>\n
