Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

I know that folks in the past have inquired about the group Locks of Love and the donation of hair. Yesterday’s Chicago Tribune has an interesting article about Locks of Love and other similar charities, such as Pantene Beautiful Lengths and Wigs for Kids. It appears many of these groups are overflowing with donated hair, much of it not actually usable for the perceived goals due to mistreatment, color, etc. Some of the overflow is tossed; some is sold to other wigmakers and the money used for the group’s goals.

I found the article interesting, and would have posted about it yesterday (but didn’t want to do so in Pirate-speak). I do urge those exploring this, or who have explored it, to read the article.
