Some interesting “bans” in the news:
- Plastic Bags. LA County just voted to ban plastic shopping bags. Completely. No exemptions, except for plastic bags that are used to hold fruit, vegetables or raw meat in order to prevent contamination with other grocery items. Further, if grocers choose to offer paper bags, they must sell them for 10 cents each, according to the ordinance. This only applies in the unincorporated county areas. So what do you think about these plastic bag bans?
- Rum and Coke. Well, not really. But then again…. Charles Schumer (D-NY) wants to ban canned alcoholic drinks with caffeine, based on an FDA ruling that caffeine is an unsafe food additive to alcoholic beverages. As I said, rum and coca-cola, or kahula liquor. Aren’t those alcoholic drinks with caffeine?
- Bikinis. OK, one particular bikini. The UK Reality show “I’m A Celebrity” has banned pictures of one celebrity in a bikini, because she only wears her own branded bikinis and they have a rule regarding product placement.
