Some interesting ways to save money, gleaned from the headlines:
- Did you know you could bargain to reduce prices? I’m not talking car or house shopping, but at the big box stores. Evidently, at least 25% of customers do this, and many stores have their systems set up to accomodate this.
- Do you want to eat on the cheap? The New York Times has an article on surviving every night on food from the 99c stores. Would this work with the 99c Only Stores? I don’t know.
- As there is more and more news about falling home prices (not a comfort to those that bought in the last few years), some are finding that real estate is a new bargain. LAist is reporting on a Repo Bus Tour, which takes prospective buyers on a tour of houses currently in foreclosure. This might be enticing buyers, as home sales are picking up slightly, but it isn’t stabilizing prices (and mortgages, especially those above $417K, aren’t cheaper).
