Now, what did I do with my dad’s Oldsmobile?

I don’t like MySpace. I do have an account there (user: cahwyguy), but I don’t like its layouts, how the music plays constantly (and its just noise :-)), and it doesn’t work well. I much prefer LiveJournal. But that’s likely the case for many of us. After all, MySpace is the hip site for teens and youth. Livejournal used to be that, but doesn’t seem to be anymore. Right? Right?

Not according to the Daily Breeze, who is reporting that half of the MySpace’s users are 35 or older, according to comScore Media Metrix’s analysis of its U.S. Internet traffic measurements. Only 30% are younger than 25. Just a year ago, teens younger than 18 made up about 25% of MySpace; that’s now down to 12%. By contrast, the 35-54 group at MySpace grew to 41% in August, from 32% a year earlier. The study was based on comScore’s regular panels for measuring Internet audiences, rather than MySpace’s registration information, where users often lie about their age.

As for LiveJournal, the stats show that LJ is still the place for the young. The curve shows that the bulk of LJ’s users are under 25, with folks like me (at 46) at the far end of the bell-curve. Of course, not everyone reports their age to LJ… and no, I have no interest in Vox.

Well, my tea is cool, and so it is off to productive endeavors…
