Birthday Wishes for terpsichoros

OK, Folks, you know the drill. Allright everyone, let’s gather in front of our large, 13″, Black and White TV set, and watch as a tall, lanky man in a khaki uniform strides out, introduces himself as Sheriff John, and starts singing the Birthday Cake Polka for terpsichoros:

Put another candle on my birthday cake
We’re gonna bake a birthday cake
Put another candle on my birthday cake
I’m another year old today

I’m gonna have a party with my birthday cake
Come on and take some birthday cake
Put another candle on my birthday cake
I’m another year old today

We’ll have some pie and sandwiches
And chocolate ice cream too
We’ll sing and play the day away
And one more thing I’m gonna do

I’ll blow out the candles on my birthday cake
And when I do, a wish I’ll make
Put another candle on my birthday cake
I’m another year old today

Happy Birthday to You
You’re another year old today.

Birthday Wishes for September 1, 2005

OK, Folks, you know the drill. Allright everyone, let’s gather in front of our large, 13″, Black and White TV set, and watch as a tall, lanky man in a khaki uniform strides out, introduces himself as Sheriff John, and says: Boys and girls, a little Ell Jay told me that today is lifewithmikey‘s birthday. So I rummaged through my birthday request letters, looking for just the right song to sing him. He wrote that I should surprise him. So, I did some searching. I found all sorts of birthday songs out there, but then found one written by Lea Salonga. Lea Salonga is an award winning Broadway actress (who made her name starring in Miss Saigon, Flower Drum Song, and many other shows), who was born in Manilla in 1971. Now I recall that Mikey’s family is from the Phillipines, so I thought: what better song to surprise him with.”

The Sheriff then clears his throat, strums an “A” on his guitar, and starts singing:

Every year, once a year
There is a special day
A happy, happy holiday
That’s filled with love and cheer
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Happy birthday to all of you
Now we get your name and we wish you the same
Happy birthday to you

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you all
Happy birthday to you

Here’s a happy birthday cake
Happy, happy birthday cake
Mommy made it just for you
Happy, happy birthday cake

Now you blow the candles out (Yehey!)
Blow and blow the candles out
All your wishes will come true
When you blow the candles out

Now it’s time to cut the cake (Wow!)
Happy, happy birthday cake
Give a piece to all your friends
Now it’s time to cut the cake

Golly gee it taste so good
Golly gee it taste so good
It’s the best we ever had
Happy, happy birthday cake

Birthday Wishes for kaottic97

OK, Folks, you know the drill. Allright everyone, let’s gather in front of our large, 13″, Black and White TV set, and watch as a tall, lanky man in a khaki uniform, wearing a Viking hat (horns and all), strides out, introduces himself as Sheriff John, and says:

I know you’re wondering what happened to my sharp lawman’s cowboy hat. We’ll, in honor of today’s song, I’ve decided to wear a different hat. I’ve also asked the Volga Boatmen to accompany me on this song. This is going out to you, kaottic97.

He then clears his throat, takes out his guitar, plucks an “A” note, and then starts singing:

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
Now you’ve aged another year
Now you know that Death is near
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
Now that you’re the age you are
Your demise cannot be far
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
Birthdays come but once a year
Marking time as Death draws near
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
Long ago your hair turned grey
Now it’s falling out, they say
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
May the cities in your wake
Burn like candles on your cake,
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
Burn the castle and storm the keep
Kill the women, but save the sheep
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
May your deeds with sheep and yaks
Equal those with sword and axe
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
Now you’ve lived another year
Age to you is like stale beer
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
Were I sitting in your shoes
I’d go out and sing the blues
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)
When you’ve reached this age you know
That the mind is first to go
Happy Birthday! (thud!) Happy Birthday! (thud!)

Birthday Wishes for ailurodragon, Redux

Allright everyone, let’s gather in front of our large, 13″, Black and White TV set, and watch as a tall, lanky man in a khaki uniform strides out, looks a bit sheepish, introduces himself as Sheriff John, and says: “This morning, I sang the wrong song for ailurodragon. So, I’m going to get it right this time” He clears his throat, strums his guitar a few times and sings:

Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

Well, it’s time to celebrate your birthday,
It happens every year
We’ll eat a lot of broccoli
And drink a lot of beer
You should be good and happy
That there’s something you can eat
A million people every day
Are starving in the street

Your daddy’s in the gutter
With the wretched and the poor
Your mama’s in the kitchen
With a can of Cycle Four
There’s garbage in the water
There’s poison in the sky
I guess it won’t be long
Before we’re all gonna die

Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

Well, what’s the matter little friend,
You think this party is the pits
Enjoy it while you can,
We’ll soon be blown to bits
The monkeys in the pentagon
Are gonna cook our goose
Their finger’s on the button,
All they need it an excuse

It doesn’t take a
Military genius to see
We’ll all be crispy critters
After World War III
There’s nowhere you can run to,
Nowhere you can hide
When they drop the big one,
We all get fried

(Come on boys and girls, sing along, ok?)

    Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

Well there’s a punk in the alley
And he’s looking for a fight
There’s an Arab on the corner
Buying everything in sight
There’s a mother in the ghetto
With another mouth to feed
Seems that everywhere you look today
There’s misery and greed

I guess you know the Earth
Is gonna crash into the sun
But that’s no reason why
We shouldn’t have a little fun
So if you think it’s scary,
If it’s more than you can take
Just blow out the candles
And have a piece of cake

Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

(Happy Birthday!)

And a pinch to grow an inch!

Birthday Wishes for mertuil

OK, Folks, you know the drill. Allright everyone, let’s gather in front of our large, 13″, Black and White TV set, and watch as a tall, lanky man in a khaki uniform strides out, introduces himself as Sheriff John, and says: OK, Lunch Brigaders, today we have a special song going out to Ms. mertuil in honor of her special day. He pulls out his guitar, slicks back his hair in the manner of They Might Be Giants, and starts singing:

You’re older than you’ve ever been
And now you’re even older
And now you’re even older
And now you’re even older
You’re older than you’ve ever been
And now you’re even older
And now you’re older still

Time is marching on
And time is still marching on

This day will soon be at an end
And now it’s even sooner
And now it’s even sooner
And now it’s even sooner
This day will soon be at an end
And now it’s even sooner
And now it’s sooner still

You’re older than you’ve ever been
And now you’re even older
And now you’re even older
And now you’re even older
You’re older than you’ve ever been
And now you’re even older
And now you’re older still

I’ll close with my favorite song (Real Media), which given the year you’ve had, is always worth remembering:

Laugh and be happy
And the world will laugh with you
When people see you smiling,
They can’t help smiling too.
When you look out the window
To a dark and gloomy day
Bring out a smile, and in a while,
The gloom will go away
    So Laugh and be happy,
With a merry melody.
A song will make a hat rack
Look like a Christmas Tree.
Get rid of worry in a hurry, chase the blues away.
Just laugh and be happy all the live long day.

Happy Birthday, mertuil!

[Please remember, if you fill out the poll in this posting, I can do my best to see that you get the birthday song you want.]
