As you probably have realized, I haven’t posted a lot of lunchtime news chum. This is not because I haven’t accumulated some, but because it hasn’t themed well. However, we’re coming up on the end of the week, so I’ve decided to share a few with you:
- An Interesting Path. A Boeing 787 undergoing flight tests took a flight path that drew a Boeing logo across the United States. More details here.
- An Interesting Retirement. We’re all familiar with the retirement of the space shuttles. But what about the modifed 747 that carried the shuttle. One of them, NASA 911, just flew into the retirement sunset.
- An Interesting Dilemma. If you’ve ever been to New Orleans, you’ll know you see leftover Mardi Gras beads everywhere. The LA Times has an interesting article about attempts to recycle Mardi Gras beads.
- An Interesting Death. There have been a number of music deaths of late: Don Cornelius (of Soul Train), Whitney Houston (I hear she’s a singer)… but the one that caught my eye was Dory Previn (Playbill Obit). Over the weekend, I picked up a copy of “Come Saturday Morning” by Liza Minnelli, and this made me remember both the song and the movie “The Sterile Cuckoo”. Dory Previn is the person who wrote “Come Saturday Morning”. Now to find the Sandpipers recording of the song.
